ryan’s real fruit ice cream was my first “real” business. i had read many books, i had written many business plans, and i finally made the jump after seeing that it didn’t just have to be a dream - that it was possible. in 2015 i went to bali on a surf trip and ended up meeting a lifelong friend (and soon to be boss). i went to new zealand and worked for my new friend, dre, selling fruit at markets and on the side of the road. dre imported stone fruit from the south island of new zealand and had sellers organized all over the north island. it was so impressive to see someone my age really doing it. he didn’t just talk about it, he did it. and he convinced me that i can do it too, well, really he convinced me anybody can but gave me the courage to jump. i had always been interested in ice cream. my first job was at an ice cream shop and i always said someday i would own one. in new zealand they have a unique style ice cream called '“real fruit ice cream.” this ice cream is exactly what it sounds like. a special machine is used to make fresh, made to order, ice cream. the machine blends creamy vanilla ice cream with your choice of berry and the result is the most delicious fruit ice creams you will ever have. i began extensive research & development while in new zealand (i ate a lot of ice cream) and i learned about the proper equipment and took notes from mobile and brick and mortar businesses all over the country. so with my new knowledge, my niche decided, and the luck of finding an old boiled peanut wagon for sale on the side of the road in georgia, the journey began.
