started in 2017, but the chill spot has ice cream roots that run deeper than that. in 2015, nikki bought grammy b's ice cream in corolla and started scooping and bringing smiles to vacationers from all over. grammy b’s has been in Corolla for 10 years, and belonged to nikki for its final 2 years under that name. i worked in an ice cream shop all through my high school years and knew someday i would one day own my own ice cream shop. i started my mobile ice cream business, ryan's real fruit ice cream, in 2016 where i set up at events all around the outer banks. a mutual friend introduced me to nikki and casual small talk led to ice cream talk, which led to talk of goals and dreams, which ultimately led to a merger of the two businesses under a new name and new mindset, the chill spot. in 2020, nikki and i decided to part ways and he has gone on to start a home inspection business, and i have taken over at sole owner of the chill spot.
